Stitch and Craft
March 18 to March 21, 2010
Olympia II, London
That was a fun show. Our group, Braidmakers Workshop, enjoyed the crowd. It isn't as busy as the show at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexander Palace in October, so there is time to have relaxed demonstrations and chats. However, there aren't the many exhibitions that make Ally Pally so special. We had space to demonstrate rigid-heddle and tablet weaving and there was a lot of interest in those techniques. It is such fun to actually try something you might have only ever seen in books.
The show offers classes too and I taught one about adding beads to the Fill-the-gap braid. To my surprise, many of the students hadn't tried the braid before and needed hands-on help to seat the beads to the best advantage.
Twisted Thread Website
I have been doing some Guild Workshops and was also part of The Braid Society stand at the Lace Convention at Worcester in April. Rosie brought the Travelling Exhibition in black and white. Lacemakers are very good with threads, of course, so they peered at the exhibits and asked intelligent questions.

And the other K&S Shows with Braidmakers Workshop
Alexandra Palace, London
Thursday October 7 to Sunday, October 10
This is the grand-daddy of all shows. Some people fly in from abroad for three whole days just to be able to see everything. Exhibitions, Uni textile students' work, vendors from the UK and abroad. Either bring a suitcase full of money or keep your hands in your pockets. It is a visual treat either way.
There are classes available at this show but we are kept too busy demonstrating on the Braidmakers Workshop stand. Come by and say hello!
Harrogate
Thursday, November 25 to Sunday, November 28
This show is slightly smaller than the London show, but some people like it better because it feels less hectic.
I'll be teaching here for two days as will Ruth, Freda and Ziggy.
